Do I need to be an experienced filmmaker?
Not at all! We have always had a diverse mix of talent during the Challenge. From industry professionals who have been filming for 10 years trying something new, to filmmakers who are making their very first film. As long as you have a camera (even a phone!) and a computer to edit on - you can take part.
Can I come as part of a team? How does that work?
Yes. We accept teams of up to 5 people, although most entrants to Reel are teams of 2 or 3 people. Each participant will need a ticket.
Do you provide any filming equipment?
No, every filmmaker is expected to bring everything they need to make their film. What we do provide however, is expert support from very experienced filmmakers. If you have any questions, or are struggling to get the right equipment - please email email@example.com and we will help you out.
London to Budapest - which way should I go?
A common misconception is that you need to head directly to Budapest. But you have 10 days to travel ANYWHERE and THEN head to Budapest. In 10 days you could head as far as Iceland, India, Africa, the Middle East, even America. As long as you can get to Budapest with your finished film by the 23rd August.
I’m based outside of London, can I still take part in the launch workshop?
We highly recommend making the journey down for the day, and organising your train or flight out of London the next day. If you cannot make it down however, we can provide some of the content to you remotely - and arrange a feedback session with one of our alumni who can help you plan out your film.
You didn't answer my question!
Not to worry - any questions we haven't answered just message our friendly Reel team at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you within 48 hours
